BOULDER, Colo. – Oct 16, 2012 -- ChefTec 13x has been released from Culinary Software Services (CSS). A majority of the new features and enhancements in this upgrade were developed as a result of direct feedback received from customers using ChefTec every day in the efficient management of their foodservice operation.
Food waste tracking and management has become a much greater concern for foodservice operations in recent years for both environmental and economic reasons. Version 13x addresses those concerns with the Waste Tracking Module (WTM). The WTM contains significant enhancements in the ability to track waste from all areas within an operation. With restaurants, food manufacturers, supermarkets and other foodservice operations creating a good portion of the $31 billion of wasted food each year the potential savings for an operation are enormous.
Another area of increasing interest to the foodservice industry and its customers is the nutrient content of menu items and packaged foods. Version 13x will provide greater flexibility and customer customization in this functionality. Multiple serving sizes for recipes will be available for Nutritional Analysis purposes. Also, the Nutrition Facts labels will be customizable with customer logos, barcodes, prices and batch numbers.
Time is of the essence for any busy foodservice operator and two new vendor EDI interfaces will reduce ChefTec data entry time in updating vendor pricing. The interfaces allow invoices to be imported directly into ChefTec from the vendor.
"This year’s drought is significantly impacting food prices," says Bev Daniels, General Manager of CSS, and it’s critical that restaurants keep a handle on what impact this is having on their food cost and bottom line. Our customers love these seamless vendor interfaces because it allows them to do this without any data entry on their part. Also, the Food Waste Tracking and Management Module will be a great boon on keeping costs down."
ChefTec’s WTM allows tracking of waste in various ways, by:
- Station – such as Hot Line, Salad Station
- Loss Reasons – burnt/overcooked, dropped, customer issue, expired, damaged, spoiled
- Disposition – garbage, garbage disposal, pulper, compost bin, donated
- Employee and Shift
Operations can pinpoint exactly where the most waste is being generated and modify working practices to reduce waste and lost profits.
