Culinary Software Services Announces ChefTec V8
More power than ever for the ChefTec engine
BOULDER, Colo. - Oct 30, 2003 - Culinary Software Services announces that the latest and most comprehensive version of ChefTec, one of the most popular restaurant software programs in the world, will be available November 10, 2003. The software is being unveiled at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (R) in New York City.
V8, for Version 8, provides a raft of new functionalities for both ChefTec and ChefTec Plus users. Culinary Software Services' President, Brian Bennett, explained his goal with the new release: "We wanted to facilitate substantial time-savings this time around. In the past we've focused heavily on helping our customers to save money - we felt it was important for us to make the software more valuable in terms of time-savings. ChefTec Plus users in particular will save hours and hours of effort by switching to V8."
Bennett's assertion is primarily due to the fact that ChefTec Plus V8 eliminates the need for duplicate data entry into multiple profit centers. For large hotels, conference centers and catering businesses, this could mean time savings of dozens of hours.
The new program also includes a time-saving capability for users of both the entry-level ChefTec program and the fully-functional ChefTec Plus. A new 'Kitchen Calendar' function enables users to set up warnings and alarms, to leave notes for other users, and to add reminders and alerts. "Since ChefTec often resides on a computer that works alongside the kitchen staff, it seemed logical to incorporate alarms, messaging and reminders to help chefs and their staff manage their time better" claims Bennett.
Bennett was quick to point out that even though the focus of V8 has been to accelerate performance for users and to shave time that they could profitably use elsewhere, the company hasn't overlooked its long-standing commitment to saving its customers money: "We haven't had a price increase in seven years, which is highly unusual in the software world" says Bennett. "If a company isn't increasing prices, it normally isn't investing in R&D either - we've had seven upgrades now, and our customers tell us the quality and value of our product is superior to anything else on the market. We value our customers' opinions!"
Other improvements over past versions of ChefTec include the ability to scale recipes by Bakers' Percentages; a new feature that allows users to print recipe cards in either of two kitchen-tested formats; customizable toolbars to access frequently-used functionality more quickly; and the ability to copy selected ingredients and all of their associated information between profit centers.
Both ChefTec and ChefTec Plus continue to offer nutritional analysis and FDA-approved label-printing at the touch of a button, something that could become critical to restaurants and foodservice providers if current FDA proposals to require such information become mandated.
Basic ChefTec retails for $595; the full-featured ChefTec Plus retails for $995. Both come with nutritional analysis pre-packaged. For demonstrations of the new software please visit booth 7522 at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show at Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC, NY, November 8th to 11th.
